Japearl was born and raised by a Jamaican mother and an Austrian father in Koblenz, Germany. From a young age, she was interested in the performing arts practising mainly her vocal skills.
After graduating, she pursued a carrier as a professional singer. She was cast for the Girl-Group She'loe by a german Radio and TV Show and signed to a major record label. Their first single "Head Over Heels", recorded in New York, became a hit in 2002. In 2003 their second single "5 Reasons" followed. Unfortunately, it was the worst time to start as a newcomer. At that time the music industry had hit rock bottom through illegal downloads and no alternative streaming services as they exist today. She'loe voluntarily left the label and management.
After the experiences on stage and in front of the camera, Japearl had a burning interest in how things work behind the camera. To expand her knowledge of media such as video, photography, web media and marketing, she studied communication design.
She was cast for a TV show in New York on MTV US, where she represented Germany as the best young media designer. Her team Europe took 2nd place.
Meanwhile, Japearl has gained a substantial perspective on the contemporary world of entertainment. She lived in various countries such as Spain and Jamaica, where she worked with reggae-dancehall producers and started producing her own beats and writing lyrics herself.
Since 2022 Japearl has gone new paths by entering Web 3.0 and releasing her first solo single VOODOO YOU as an NFT on Opensea.io and Fanfare.fm. Japearl describes the new single as a fusion of electronic beat with rap vocals and a pinch of dancehall plus a pop chorus on top.
Since May 10th, 2022, VOODOO YOU is also available on all common streaming platforms such as Spotify or iTunes.
